The Oran Lady Eagles will have an opportunity to defend last years' district title with a convincing 47-15 victory over The Fulton School at St. Albans last night during the Class 1 District 2 tournament at Bell City.

The Eagles jumped out to 8-0 lead with 2:47 left in the opening period before a St. Albans time out.  There was only 34.9 seconds left before they would hit a free throw for their first point. The score was 13-1 and would be 15-1 after the first eight minutes.

The lead had expanded to 25-8 at the half and was 40-13 after the third quarter.

Oran, 13-10, had three scorers in double-digits.  Tatum may had 11 points and six steals.  Ashlyn McIntosh also had 11 points while Allison Cummins scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Brianna Stause dished out five assists.

The number one seed Eagles will take on the number three seed, the St. Paul Lutheran Giants from Farmington, who advanced by upsetting second seeded Delta, 47-33.  The game is Thursday at 6 pm.

Head Coach Ethan Evans and his team will attempt to make it back-to-back championships after last year Oran claimed only their second district title ever with a 58-54 victory over Bismarck in the Class 2 District 3 tournament that was held at Chaffee.  The Eagles lost their top three scorers from that game due to graduation.
