Jr. High girls split in home opener

The Oran Junior High School girls basketball teams split last night when the hosted conference foe Scott City.  The seventh grade fell to 0-2 with a 35-7setback.  Mari Fuemmeler had four while Olivia Grisso hit a trey to round out the scoring.

Coach Etan Evans said, "Once again we struggled to score and we also had trouble with their size inside. We have to do a better job in half-court sets."

The eighth grade won 44-17 to improve to 2-0.  Addie Nichols exploded for 30 points and hit one from beyond the arc.  Braylynn Mogan added 12 points and Molly Spane chipped in a field goal as well.  They were 11 of 25 from the line for 44%.

Coach Evans commented, "We got off to a good start but once again struggled in the 2nd quarter. We only had 3 people score luckily Addie had 30. We need to have more people to get involved going forward. "

The teams will be out of conference when they travel to Meadow Heights on Monday.  Tip time is 6 pm.
