The Oran High School volleyball teams pick up wins in its home-opener last night over East Prairie. The junior varsity won 25-21 and 25-9 to improve to 1-1. The varsity prevailed 25-11 and 25-21.
During the JV, Daley Siebert had five aces and seven assists. Courtney Dirnberger had five aces as well. Haley Webb had six kills.
The varsity match saw the home team cruise to the first game win but came out flat in game two. Oran did not take its first lead until 15-14. It was tied again at 17, before the final four-point margin.
The victory improved the varsity to 2-0 on the young season.
Savannah Below, Heather Gosche and Kennedi McVay each had three aces. Below also four kills. Traci Hency added four kills and two blocks. Hannah Boshell also had two blocks, while Laney Shy was credited with five assists.
Their next action will be on Monday when they travel to Kennett. Game time is 5 pm.
