JHBB Wins Openers
The Junior High Eagles took two in their season opener at Woodland High School last night.
The 7th grade team jumped out to a 16-2 lead after one quarter and never looked back, eventually winning by a score of 47-15. Landon Stanberry led the Eagles with 17 points. Tyson Loper added 10.
Oran's 8th grade relied on a stingy 3rd quarter defense and the offensive prowess of Jacob Shoemaker for a comeback victory in the nightcap, 47-40.
The Eagles trailed 28-20 at half-time but outscored the Cardinals 27-12 in the final 12 minutes, and only allowed two points in the 3rd quarter. On the other end of the court, Shoemaker netted 18 of his game high 31 points in the final half. He also hit all 6 of his free throw chances in the 4th quarter after sinking only 2 of 8 in the first half.
Both squads will be back in action this evening as they host Zalma at 6pm.
