Basketball beats Blue Jays

The Oran Junior High School girls basketball teams picked two wins last night at home over the Oak Ridge Blue Jays.  The 7th grade won 12-5 while the 8th grade won 37-11.

Hannah Boshell and Hope Woodfin both scored 4 apiece, while Rylee Boshell and Emma Priggel each chipped in 2.

Coach Ethan Evans said, "Once again the girls played some great defense. The offense also looked better early than it did Monday night against Kelly.  I was really proud of their effort."

The 7th grade is now 8-0.

The 8th grade was led by Mallory Lowes' 10 points, she had a trey and was 3-4 from the line.  Alyssa Spane added 8, Hannah Boshell had 7 while Hope Woodfin chipped in 6.  Rylee Boshell, Grace Davis and Chloe Prindle each contributed 2 points apiece.  Skyler Ham, Emma Priggel and Laney Shy all saw the floor but did not score.

The Eagles were 4-6 from the charity stripe for 66%.

Evans commented, "We got off to a fast start in the 1st quarter, probably our best offensive quarter of the year. I’m not sure what happened in the 2nd quarter except we quit hitting our outside shots and would not take it to the hole. The 3rd quarter we once again picked it up offensively and we got everyone involved."

The older girls are now 7-3.

The teams will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 at Cape Central Middle School.
