What's happenin' (1/23-1/28)

It's another full week of basketball action.

The boys enter the week with the JV having a 3-7 overall mark and 2-1 in conference play, while the varsity is 9-7 and 3-1 respectively.  Meanwhile, the junior varsity girls are 5-0 and 1-0 and the varsity squad is now 15-1 and 2-0.

All the games start at 6 pm this week.

The boys have the only home games this week and that will take place on Tuesday.  Conference foe Oak Ridge comes to town.  The Blue Jays are 5-9 and 1-2.  This will be the first meeting for the varsity squads.  The JVs met during the conference tourney last week with Oak Ridge winning in overtime 51-49.

After a night off on Wednesday, the girls return to the floor on Thursday when they face another conference opponent in Kelly on the road.  The Hawks are 4-8 and 2-0.  The varsities have not met but Oran's jayvee picked up a 37-23 win during the conference tournament.

On Friday, there will be only two quarters of junior varsity action before the varsity contest at Leopold.  The Wildcats picked up their first win of the season on Friday over Richland, they are now 1-12.

The girls will have a varsity-only event on Saturday.  The Eagles will participate in the Coaches vs Cancer shoot out at Charleston.  They will take Naylor at 6 pm.  The Naylor Eagles have ended Oran's season the last 2 years in the sectional round of the post-season playoffs.  Naylor comes into the week 11-5.  They too, moved up to class 2 this season.
