An exciting week of Oran High School basketball coming up. Both the boys and girls will be playing in the sectional round of the state playoffs. Those games will take place on Wednesday starting at 6 pm at Jackson High School.
The boys, 19-8, will play first. They will take on the Hayti Indians. The Indians are 19-11. The two teams last met in the quarterfinal round of the 2011-12 state playoffs. Hayti won that game 74-48 and finished 3rd in the state.
The girls, 25-3, are scheduled to tip at 7:45. They will face the Puxico Indians. These Indians have a record of 20-6. The squads met for the championship of the Lady Devil Invitational on Dec. 10th and the Eagles won convincingly 85-41.
The winners of these games will advance to the quarterfinal round on Saturday at Three Rivers College. The boys game will start at 1 pm and the girls at 2:45.
Practice for spring sports officially starts tomorrow.
