A Senior Night sweep


The Oran High School volleyball teams celebrated "Senior Night" with straight-set wins over visiting conference rival Charleston last night.

The junior varsity improved to 3-2 in league play and 6-8 overall with their 25-8, 26-24 victory.

Sam Welter had a kill, an ace  and two digs to go along with eight assists.  Savannah Below had eight kills and two aces. Kennedi McVay had five assists, a kill and a pair of aces. Heather Gosche served three aces.  She also had two kills, a dig and an assist.  Paige Bradley had two kills, a dig and an ace.  Megan Henson had three kills while Ali Hornback had an ace, a kill and a dig.

The jayvee trailed 20-14 in the second set but was able to rally to pick up the win.

The varsity improved to 2-4 and 11-10-1 with 25-13 and 25-16 scores.

Senior, Kenzie Graviett, had seven aces, a kill and two digs.  Senior, Malia Legrand had two aces and a dig, while the third senior, Kamryn Graviett added an ace.

Cassie Cochran dished out a team-high 15 assists.  She also had three digs and two aces.  Kaylee Payne led the team with 11 kills.  She also had a pair of aces and four digs.  Jessie Long had three kills, two digs and an ace.  Hornback had a kill and a dig and Katelyn Streeter had a kill.

It was the last regular season contest for the volleyball squads.  The 11 varsity wins mark the most in recent memory.

The varsity will next compete in the Semo conference tournament.  Pool play for the Eagles will take place next Tuesday at New Madrid County Central beginning at 4 pm.  Bracket play will be at Notre Dame Regional High School on Thursday.
