What's happenin' (2/26-3/3)

This will be a very important week for Oran High School athletics.

Monday is the opening day for baseball and softball practice.  However, those outdoor sports will take a backseat to basketball, at least for awhile.

The 22-4 girls squad and the 21-5 boys will both be playing on Wednesday in the sectional round of the state tournament at Jackson High School.  The Lady Eagles will face Puxico for the second straight year.  Last year Oran won 73-54 over the Lady Indians, who come in at 18-7.  Game time is 6 pm.

The boys will also face a familiar opponent in Hayti, a team they defeated 53-47 last year.  This year the Indians are 20-5.  Tip time is 7:45.

This time of the year it is win or go home.

A win would propel the victor into Saturday's quarterfinal contest at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff.  The girls game would be at 1 pm and the boys' at 2:45.
