Oran Eagle sophomore softballer Kaylee Payne was recently named to the All-State team as an infielder. Payne was the only 10th grader to earn first-team honors as voted on by the state Coaches' association.
Payne batted .477, hit four triples, knocked in 21 runs and stole 17 bases for the 13-5 Lady Eagles who had its season end in the district tournament to the eventual state-runner ups, the Park Hill Central Lady Rebels.
Other postseason honors, were received at the Region level. Payne was a recipient of an All-Region award as an infielder, as was junior, Claire Ramsey as a catcher.
Ramsey batted .491 had a homer and 21 RBI. She also threw out four base runners attempting to steal.
Also named to the first team for her play in the outfield was junior Katelyn Streeter
Streeter hit at a .327 clip and drove in 21.
Freshman, Alyssa Spane, was named to the second team All-Region as a pitcher.
Spane went 9-2 with a 3.78 ERA she tossed 63 of the 110 total innings during the season.
Payne, Spane, Streeter and Ramsey were all named the first team All-District
Honored on the second team, were junior Jessie Long as a utility player and junior infielder Leah Cauble, senior outfielder Sydney Kern as well as junior infielder Samantha Welter. Long batted .293 with a home run and 18 RBI. Cauble led the team with a .537 batting average. hit two home runs and 16 runs driven in. Kern hit .346 with 5 RBI and 15 stolen bases. Welter batted .239 with 14 runs driven in.
All-Conference first-team honorees include Cauble, Payne, Spane, Streeter and Ramsey
Second-team/Honorable mention includes: Kern, Long, and Welter
