Volleyball gets first wins

The Oran High School volleyball team entered this weekend and the annual Dig for Life Classic winless.  They left with three wins and advanced into the Black Division Gold Bracket before bowing out to Class 4 Cape Girardeau Central.

Last year they won the Silver Bracket of the Black Division.

The Lady Eagles opened pool play with a loss to Meadow Heights.

Later that evening Oran took two sets from Twin Rivers.

On Saturday morning, the Eagles finished preliminary action with a victory over Senath-Hornersville.

Later in the day, Oran, in the challenge round (used to set bracket seedings), lost to Class 3 Desoto.

Oran defeated Southland in three sets in its first bracket contest, before falling to Cape Central to end its day.

The Lady Eagles are currently 3-5 and will host the Leopold Wildcats (8-3-1) at 6 pm.
