Jr High girls bounce back

The Oran Junior High School girls basketball teams rebounded from their Wednesday night losses with a pair of easy wins at Woodland to close out the regular season.  The seventh-grade won 54-8 and the eighth, 45-5.

Coach Ethan Evans said, "It was nice to get back in the win column for both teams."

During the opener, Oran was up 29-4 at the half and never looked back.

Bralynn Morgan led the way with 23 while Addie Nichols had 21.

Scarlett Schlosser added six and Molly Spane chipped in four.

As a team, they hit 6 of 16 from the line for 38%.

They finished the regular season at 11-1 and will be back in action during the conference tournament at Charleston on Monday at 4pm against the winner of Saturday's Scott County Central vs. Kelly contest.

Evans said, "During the seventh-grade game we jumped out on them early and got a lot of nice looks at the basket."

In the eighth-grade game, the Lady Eagles jumped out to a 21-1 lead going into the halftime lockerrooms and rolled to the forty-point win.

Grace Davis poured in 27 points.

Liza Dannenmueller had eight, Emma Priggel six.  Laney Shy and Maddie Stickel added a field goal apiece.

They were 5 out of 10 at the charity stripe for 50% and finished their regular season at 11-2.  They will take on Scott City on Saturday at Charleston at 1:45.

"We struggled a bit early in the eighth-grade game but finally got it going. We need to get a little more balance in our scoring going forward to the tournament," Coach Evans said.
