Volleyball ends season during district play

The Oran High School volleyball team saw its season come to an end last night during the opening round of the Class one, District two tournament at Bell City, falling in straight sets to Clarkton, 15-25 and 23-25.

Coach Amy Wibbenmeyer said, "We started off strong with high energy and ready to play. When Clarkton got 15 points in the first game, we started getting scared and stopped swinging and got down as a team, something we could not overcome the whole season.  The second set we still came out with high energy. I had told the girls that we cannot get down on ourselves if we make a mistake shake it off and get the next point. It was a great set to watch and we played as hard as we could."

Kaylee Payne had five kills, five digs and two aces. Savannah Below had three kills, Kennedi McVay dished out 10 assists. Cassie Cochran added seven digs.

The Lady Eagles will lose two seniors to graduation, Cassie Cochran and Katelyn Streeter.

The varsity team closes out 2018 with a mark of 9-16-1.  The junior varsity ended up 3-13-1.
