JV Lady Eagles defeat varsity opponent

The Oran High School junior varsity girls basketball team hosted the Meadow Height varsity squad last night.  The Lady Eagles picked up a 53-33 win.  Oran outscored the Lady Panthers in each period.

Katie Webb led all scorers with 22.  Mallory Lowes finished with 10, including a three-pointer.

Hope Woodfin added seven, she too hit a trey.  Traci Hency and Hannah Boshell each had six and Alyssa Spane rounded out the scoring with a field goal.

Coach Ethan Evan said, "After a sluggish start defensively the girls really picked it up during the middle 2 quarters. We did a good job of getting it inside offensively and took advantage of our size."

The team hit 9 of 13 from the line for 69%.  The jv is now 7-3 and 2-1 against varsity squads.

Both Lady Eagles teams will travel to Delta for conference games with the Bobcats tonight at 6pm.

The junior varsity played because the varsity has the maximum number of games they are allowed and with Meadow Heights being a district opponent it's a good idea to keep them on the schedule.
