Softball downs Dexter

One day after the Oran High School softball team pounded out 19 runs and 19 hits at Leopold, the offense continued firing on all cylinders yesterday as they defeated the visiting Dexter Lady Bearcats 15-0 in four innings.  This game the Lady Eagles had 17 hits.

Kaylee Payne was 3-3 with a home run and a triple and one driven in.  Leah Cauble was also 3-3 with a pair of doubles and a run driven in.  Claire Ramsey drove in three with a 3-4 day that included a double.  Rylee Boshell was also 3-3 and drove in a pair.  Katelyn Streeter had a pair of RBI and was 2-3.

Payne crossed the plate four times. Samantha Welter scored three times.

Alyssa Spane (4-2) went the distance for Oran (10-4) in the circle, tossing a three-hit, four-inning shutout.  She struck out three and did not walk a batter.

Coach Jim Eftink told the blog, "Once again lots of big hits. Kaylee ripped a home run for the second day in a row and there were several shots off the wall. Lots of hard contact.  We’re on a little run right now where we’re playing very good ball. Hopefully, we can keep this going through next week and into districts"

The junior varsity got in two innings of action, Oran came out on top 5-3.

With today's rainout, the girls will next be in action on Tuesday when they host 8-8 New Madrid County Central at 4:30
