Softball suffers defeat at home

The Oran High School softball team lost to the visiting Naylor Eagles yesterday, by a score of 8-3.

The hosts outhit Naylor eight to six but Oran stranded eight runners and committed a couple of errors.

Kaylee Payne (2-1) got the start in the circle, suffered the loss and went the first three and one-third innings.  She allowed six runs, four earned on six hits.  She struck out four and walked five.  At the plate, she was 3-3 with two doubles and two RBI.  Claire Ramsey added a pair of hits and drove in a run. Samantha Welter, Katelyn Streeter and Rylee Boshell had the other hits for the home team.  No Oran batter struck out during the game.

Alyssa Spane tossed the final three and two-thirds innings.  She allowed two unearned runs on three hits and she struck out two.

Coach Jim Eftink said, "[It was] just a bad game for us. Not much to say. The only bright spot we had was Kaylee going three for three.[We] Have to regroup and play better against East Prairie on Thursday."

Oran (3-3) will travel to East Prairie (3-3) on Thursday for a 4:30 first pitch.
