Eagles Roll East Prairie 7-1

Layne Johnson from earlier this year.
The Oran Eagles improved their record to 12-3 with a 7-1 victory over East
Prairie this afternoon.

The game started out as a pitcher's duel as neither team dented the scoreboard during the first two innings.

In the third inning however, the Eagles broke the game open as Tanner McVay led off with a base on balls.  One out later, Thomas Trankler and Preston Hahn drew  back to back walks to load the bases.  Jacob Priggel then hit a sacrifice fly to center to score McVay for the first run of the game.  Hunter Schlosser singled to drive in Trankler from second. Drew Reischman then had the big hit of the inning with a double to right center.  That blow drove in Hahn from second and Schlosser from first and Oran led 4-0.

The Eagles missed a huge opportunity in the third inning.  Three consecutive walks started the inning.  That brought Hahn up.  East Prairie had their infield drawn in for the play at the plate.  Hahn hit a sharp line-drive  to the left of the second baseman.  A diving catch was followed by a toss to the shortstop covering second who threw on to third for the triple play.

Oran added two more runs in the fourth after a lead-off walk and a steal by Priggel.  Schlosser hit a double to score Priggel. Schlosser advanced to third on a single by Reischman and scored on a wild pitch.

Both teams scored a run in the sixth.  The Eagles got theirs when Priggel reached on a two-base error with one out, went to third on a wild pitch and crossed the plate on Schlosser's single.

Layne Johnson picked up the win improving his record to 3-0.  He went 5 1/3 innings and allowed only one run on five hits.  He struck out six and walked three.  Trankler went 2/3 of an inning and gave up one hit and struck out two.  Schlosser threw the final inning and allowed no hits and struck out one.

Schlosser and Reischman, who were name Bank of Advance co-stars of the game, both went 3-4 on the day.  Schlosser scored twice and drove in three.  Reischman had two RBIs and stole two bases.  They both had two singles and one double.

Priggel went 2-2 with an RBI and two stolen bases.

Oran will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to take on Kelly in a conference show down.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
