Ressel soars for gold |
Kaylen Glastetter led the way claiming first in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. Toni Hency threw the shot put the farthest. Brett Ressel was awarded gold in the triple jump.
The top four finishers in each event advance to the sectional meet next Saturday at MICDS in St. Louis. In addition to those listed above, they include the girls 4x200 relay of Glastetter, Anna Jones, Sydney Kern and Ashlyn McIntosh (2nd place), Glastetter in the 400 meter (3rd place), Ressel in the long jump (2nd place) and Dillon Holmes in the high jump (2nd place). Bradley Brooks, Holmes, Ressel and Tristen Kelley also qualified in the 4x400 relay (4th place).
Those that finished in the top eight received points for their team. Eagles in that category included Jones in the 400 meter (6th place) and McIntosh in the 800 meter (6th place).
Overall, the girls finished 4th out of a total of 17 teams with 50 points. The boys were 8th out of 14 with 31 points.
