Junior High Eagles win at Meadow Heights

The Oran Junior High School girls basketball team defeated The Meadow Heights Panthers last night by a score of 43-16.  Meadow Heights was unable to field two teams of only one game was played and it was the 8th grade level.

The Eagles doubled up the Panthers after the first quarter (8-4) and from there on the game was never in question.

Oran led 21-6 at the half.  They expanded the lead to 34-12 after three.

Heather Gosche led the Eagles in scoring with 9.  Taylor Lowes, Bailey Shipley and Samantha Welter each scored 8 apiece.  Welter had 6 of her points from beyond the arc.

Coach Ethan Evan said, "For the second straight game we got off to a slow start. After that we played fairly well. We missed a lot of easy shots but rebounded very well. Our scoring was balanced which is always good to see."

The Oran 8th grade (2-0, 1-0) and 7th grade (1-0, 1-0) will both be in action tonight as they travel to Charleston for conference contests with the Blue Jays.  Game time is 6 pm.
