JHBB: Eagles Split on the Road

The Oran Junior High School boys basketball teams won one and lost one last night in Advance.  The seventh grade fell by two, 40-38 and the eighth grade had little trouble, picking up a 63-25 victory, helping relieve the sting of last year's 37-29 defeat.

In game one, the Eagles had a 22-19 half-time lead but were out scored 14-7 in the third and and dropped the close decision.

Ty Johnson poured in 20 for Oran, including 3 treys. Dane Shands scored 8, Kaden Hargrove and Drew Smith each chipped in 4.  Kaleb Gosche added 2.

The Eagles were 5-9 from the line for 56%.

With the loss the younger team is now 5-2.

Game two saw a four point Oran first quarter lead expand to 16 at the half as the Eagles coast to the lopsided 38 win.

Todd Priggel had 28 and Tyson Goodale had 17 for Oran, who improved their record to 7-0.

Jakob Findley and Gabe Fox contributed 7 apiece, while Jake Phillips and Landon Stanberry tallied 2 apiece.

The Eagles were 7 of 13 from the charity stripe, good for 54%.

The Eagles will be back in action tonight as they travel to Scott City to take on the Rams at 6 pm.

Thanks, Michael Stevens for the photographs.
