Last night the Oran High School boys basketball teams picked up two conference road wins at Oak Ridge. The varsity cruised 67-41 and the jv beat the Jays for the third time this season, this time 48-37.
The varsity used balanced scoring in their victory and despite a slow start picked up a convincing 26 point victory.
Max Priggel led the victors with 17 points, he hit two from beyond the arc. Layne Johnson added 16 and Garrison Mangels had 16, including 4 of 4 from the line. Jacob Shoemaker poured in 12 on 4 treys.
Preston Hahn and Blake Schlitt each scored 4. Hahn hit a 3.
Wyatt Kinney and Drew Reischman played but did not score.
The Eagles were 8 of 12 from the line for 67%.
Junior Varsity:
The jv jumped out to 13-1 lead after one and was never seriously threatened.
Ben Fox had 14, including 2 from long range and 2 for 2 from the line, while Peyton McVay had 11 for Oran.
Jon (Downtown) Shipley added 7, all in the fourth quarter, including 1 from downtown. Bradley Brooks and Drew Reischman chipped in 4 apiece. Both were 2 of 2 at the free throw line. Joey Phillips also tallied 4 and Denver Elfrink contributed 2.
William Kluesner, Avery Mitchem and Kalen Read saw the floor but not the scoring column.
The younger Eagles were 7 of 10 at the charity stripe for 70%.
Oran had defeated Oak Ridge on Dec. 12 during the Advance jv tournament 53-45 and then on Jan. 18 at Scott City during the conference tourney 50-47 in overtime.
The jv improved to 2-2 in the Scott-Mississippi Conference and 5-9 overall. The varsity is now 3-2 and 11-8, respectively.
The junior varsity plays this afternoon at 4:00 in the third place conference tournament game against Scott City. The varsity plays at 6:30 also in the third place game against East Prairie. The games are at Scott City.
