When next year's post-season comes around the Oran High School boys and girls basketball teams will move up to class 2. They will compete against a whole new set of teams. Some are very familiar, some are not.
The Eagles will be a part of district 2. The teams include conference foes Chaffee and Scott City. The Rams are moving down from class 3. Other teams include the St. Vincent of Perryville Indians, a team that we play during the regular season on both the boys and girls sides. The Meadow Heights Panthers are also a part of the group. The girls play the Panthers each year, but the boys have not played since both schools were a part of Class 2 District 3 in 2012. Meadow Heights also participates in the seMissourian Christmas Tournament.
The other three schools are not ones that we normally play. They include the Valle Catholic Warriors, the Bismarck Indians and the Kingston Cougars.
In 2013 Bismarck hosted the C2D3 tourney, our girls' team lost to the hosts in the opening round.
Kingston is where Eagles' girls coach Ethan Evans got his first head coaching job.
Coach Evans told the blog, "We look forward to the challenge of moving up a class and trying to win another district title."
Atheletic Director and Head boys coach, Joe Shoemaker said, "I will miss the rivalry that we have with Advance but I am looking forward to playing some other teams that we might not normally play in the regular season."
