Baseball improves to 4-0

It didn't take long for the Oran High School baseball team to take control of Thursday's game at Advance.

The Eagles used 3 hits and 2 errors in the first inning to plate 3 runs.

In the second, 4 hits and an error accounted for 4 more runs.  The big blow was a 3 run home run by Drew Reischman, hit third blast of the year.

Six hits in the third led to 5 more runs and made the score 12-0.  That's how it ended in 5 inning due to the mercy rule.

Coach Joe Bickings said, "It's always nice to jump out on someone and get a lead.  It allows your kids to relax a little and not play so tight.  It was also good to see our bats come back to life and have 14 hits after facing Bloomfield and only having 5 or 6 hits.  I though that Clay looked good on the mound.  I think he threw just as many innings this game as he did all last year for us.  He's going to be a big part of this pitching staff in the spring and it was nice to see him throw well.  We had a really nice week going 3-0.  I hope we can continue this on to next week."

Clay Sauceda went the distance on the mound, giving up only 2 hits.  He walked one and struck out 5.  It was his first start of the season.  He is now 1-0.

Sauceda was 3-4 at the plate and drove in a run.  Layne Johnson was also 3-4, scored 3 runs and stole 2 bases. Reischman and Cole Priggel both drove in 3.  Priggel had 2 hits as did Jacob Shoemaker.

Oran is now 3-0 and they will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Leopold.  Expect a 4:15 start.
