Eagles advance in tourney

The 4th seeded Oran High School jayvee boys basketball team picked up a 50-34 victory over the 5th seeded host Advance Hornets this afternoon in the opening round of the 2016 Advance JV tournament.

The Eagles stretched a 7-5 first quarter lead to 22-10 at the half and added 4 points to the margin during the second half.

Landon Stanberry led Oran with 14 points before fouling out in the fourth.  Tyson Goodale added 12.  Tristen Schlosser had 9 points.  He hit a trey and was 4 of 6 from the line.  Avery Mitchem had 6, Gabe Fox added 5, while Calen Reed chipped in 4.

Jakob Findley, Kaiden Massey and Carson Moyer saw action.

Oran was 5 of 10 on free throw attempts for 50%.

They are now 2-1 on the year and will return to tournament play on Monday when they face the top-seeded East Prairie Eagles at 5 pm.
