After a dip in numbers last year, the Oran High School track and field teams will have 13 members when they open their season on Thursday at East Prairie. The meet starts at 4 pm.
Last year, the Eagles had no girls to participate and in past years it had been the Lady Eagles that had excelled in the dashes, hurdles, relays and the shot put to send qualifiers to the state meet.
Coach Ethan Evan said, "Our participation is up this year and we will actually have a girls' team. We have several younger kids that are excited to compete. We hope to get better after each meet and compete strongly in districts."
Returning on the boys' side is junior Bradley Brooks. Brooks holds the school record in the 100M dash at 11.96 set at Kelly last year.
All of the girls will be newcomers to the squad, but freshman Savannah Below might be one to watch.
