Oran started play Saturday as the home team taking on tourney co-host East Carter County. The Eagles defeated the Class 3 Redbirds 8-2.
Once again Oran got good pitching plus their bats heated up as they slapped 15 hits (14 singles) and were helped out by 5 East Carter errors.
Drew Reischman went 6 2/3 innings to pick up the win. He scattered 6 hits, allowed 2 earned runs, walked 1, hit 1 and struck out 7. He was also 4-4 at the plate, scored twice and drove in one.
Freshman Lane Peterson went 3-4, had 2 rbi and scored once. Clay Sauceda, Layne Johnson and Todd Priggel each went 2-4. Sauceda had a rbi, Johnson scored twice and had the only Eagle extra-base hit, a double and Priggel crossed the plate once. Cole Priggel drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Cole also closed the game out retiring the only batter he faced as the Eagles improved to 2-0.
