Eagles soar over Oak Ridge

The junior high girls basketball teams picked up two more wins last night to remain undefeated.

The seventh grade improved to 7-0.  They jumped out to a 12-0 lead after one period of play and cruised to a 32-8 win on the road.

Coach Ethan Evans said of his younger team, "The girls played excellent defense. They worked the ball around offensively as well. I wish we would've shot free throws a little better but we did a good job of drawing fouls."

Addie Nichols led the way offensively with 10 points.

Bralynn Morgan scored six.  Grace Davis and Laney Shy had five apiece.  Liza Dannenmueller added four and Hallie Nichols rounded out the scoring with two.

The team hit only 4 of 15 from the free throw line for 26%.

The eighth grade used a 28-1 run during the second and third quarters to put the game on ice as they picked up a 45-15 win to improve to 11-0.

Davis pumped in 22.

Hope Woodfin scored seven, including a trey.  Emma Priggel and Hannah Boshell had six apiece while Rylee Boshell added four.

The older team hit 70% of their charity tosses (14-20).

Coach Evans said, "The second and third quarters were as good as I have seen all year. The girls really got after it and caused a ton of turnovers and lots of deflections. That lead to some easy baskets out in transition. It was a big win over a pretty good team."

They will be back in action next Tuesday when they host Cape Central at 6 pm.
