For the second straight game, the Oran High School girls basketball team put up over 30 points in each of their first two quarters. Last night it was Scott County Central that took the brunt of the offensive onslaught. The Lady Eagles led 31-6 after one and 65-17 at the break. Oran won 91-34.
Coach Ethan Evans said, "I thought our defensive pressure was very good again last night. We really got after them and caused turnovers and made them uncomfortable. We also played with great offensive efficiency and scored in bunches during the 1st 2 quarters."
Leah Cauble poured in 50 points. She hit 3 from beyond the arc and was 5 of 6 from the line. She also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out a pair of assists. Jessie Long had 13 points and eight rebounds while Kaylee Payne scored 11 and had three steals as well as two assists. Payne also had two treys.
Madison Ramsey hit two from long range for her six points. Katie Webb also had six points and grabbed six boards. Taylor Lowes scored two as did Katelyn Streeter who was also credited with two assists. Claire Ramsey chipped in a free throw for her single tally. She also had five rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Oran hit 58% of their shots from inside the arc (30-52) and one night after going 0-5 from beyond the three-point line at Malden they made 7-19 for 37%. From the free throw line, they were 10-13 for 77%.
The varsity is now 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Scott-Miss play.
They will not play again until Monday, Dec. 4th at 5 pm in the opening round of the Lady Devil Invitational at Chaffee. The Lady Eagles are the number one seed and two-time defending champions. They will face #8 seed Shawnee out of Wolf Lake, Il.
There was no junior varsity contest.
