The Oran Junior High School girls basketball teams traveled to East Prairie last night to face its conference foe. Oran won the seventh-grade contest, 39-4, and the eighth-grade, 43-6.
Coach Evans said, "Once again I was pleased with our defensive effort in both games. We got off to a really fast start in the seventh-grade game to put the game away. At halftime of the eighth-grade game, we had built a nice lead and had very balanced scoring.
The seventh-graders tossed two shutout quarters to open the contest and led 20-0 at the half and outscored the hosts 19-4 the rest of the way.
Addie Nichols led the way with 25, she hit five from beyond the arc and was two for two from the line.
Bralynn Morgan finished with nine, including a trey. Scarlett Schlosser totaled four and Molly Spane hit a free throw.
The team was five for ten from the line for 50%.
They improved to 3-0 in the Scott-Miss and 4-0 overall.
During the nightcap, Oran led 12-2 after one and, after forcing a goose egg, 25-2 at the break. They were never threatened in the second half.
Grace Davis led the Eagles with 16.
Liza Dannenmueller, Laney Shy and Maddie Stickel each added six. Carly Gloth, just back from an injury, scored five, including the game's only three-pointer, and Emma Priggel added four.
They were four of six from the charity stripe for 67%.
