Volleyball loses opener

The Oran Junior High School volleyball teams opened their seasons on Monday night at home.  They lost both to visiting Scott City.  The seventh grade fell in three, 17-25, 25-16  and  8-25.  The eighth lost in straight sets, 24-26 and 16-25.

Of the opener, Coach Amy Wibbenmeyer said, "They played great for their first game most of the sixth graders are trying to figure out the game and play serve receive. Serve receive is one of the first important concepts you have to learn about in volleyball, right behind talking and serving. They did great as their first game!"

Addie Nichols had three aces and a kill.  Kylie Ingram also had three aces.  Bralynn Morgan had a pair of kills.  Olivia Grisso had an ace and an assist.  Lily Knotts also had an ace.

Coach Wibbenmeyer said of the eighth grade, "They practice hard and act like they know what they are doing and we came out a little nervous for our first game. We got behind but crawled our way back in the game. We need more talk and team togetherness on our side, that is what beat us in the game. We will continue to push every practice"

Liza Dannennmueller had five aces and two kills.  Laney Shy had a pair of aces.  Knott and Nichols each added an ace.
