Softball swamps Scott County on Senior Day

The Oran High School softball team hosted Scott County Central yesterday.  It was Senior Day and the Eagles honored Brianna Fouts, Leah Cauble, Jessie Long, Claire Ramsey and Katelyn Streeter before the game.  Oran won 20-3 in three innings.

Oran gave up three unearned runs in the top of the first but came back with 19 of their own in the bottom half as they sent 24 to the plate as they had nine walks, five hits, two errors and a hit batter and a sac fly to score the runs.  Jessie Long had two hits in the frame as she went 3-3 on the day and drove in four.  Ramsey had two hits and drove in three in the contest.

Alyssa Spane (5-2) picked up the win, tossing three innings and allowing the three unearned runs on one hit.  She walked one and struck out three.

Coach Jim Eftink said, "Regular season is over [It's] time to focus on districts.  Can’t have any bad innings here on out! One error or mistake can quickly end your season."

With the win, the Lady Eagles improved to 12-4 and with today's rainout concluded the regular season.  They will begin district play on Monday at 3 pm in Bernie.  Oran, the two-seed will take on the seventh-seeded Puxico Lady Indians.
