Junior HIgh girls sweep Meadow Heights

The Oran Junior High School girls basketball teams traveled to Meadow Heights last night and took two from the Lady Panthers.  The seventh-grade won for the first time, they are now 1-2.  The final score was 16-13.

Mari Fuemmeler had nine points, Caroline Brashear, Olivia Grisso and Bailey McCoy had two apiece and Ava Knotts added a free throw. The girls were 7-12 from the line for 58%.

Coach Ethan Evans said, "I was very proud of the 7th grade for picking up their 1st victory of the year. They did a good job of making free throws when they needed to. They also did a good job rebounding against a taller team."

The younger team will be back in action on Thursday when East Prairie comes to town.

The eighth-grade picked up an easy 53-22 win to improve to 3-0.

Addie Nichols led all scorers with 24.  She hit two from beyond the arc.  She was followed closely by Braylynn Morgan who had 19 and one trey.

Sophie Bryeans had six points and Scarlett Schlosser had a field goal.

The eighth grade only will travel to Charleston tonight for a 6 pm match up.

Evans commented, "We got off to a very nice start thanks to our press in the 1st quarter. After halftime, we were a sluggish and we have not put together 4 good quarters yet this year."
