Volleyball conference pool play action

The Oran High School varsity volleyball team participated last night in pool play of the Semo Conference volleyball tournament held at the SportsPlex in Cape Girardeau.  They played a total of eight sets, two each against their south division opponents and went 4-4.

In the opener, they lost to Kennett 14-25 and 23-25.  Laney Shy had 10 assists and a dig.  Kaylee Payne and Traci Hency each had three kills.  Payne added an ace and Hency also had a block.  Savannah Below had two blocks.

Game two, saw the Lady Eagles defeat New Madrid County Central, 25-22 and 25-12.  Shy had 15 assists, Payne added five kills and four blocks.

In the third match of the evening, Oran took two from Charleston, 25-10 and 25-14.  Shy had 12 assists, Payne had eight kills and seven aces.  Hency had a block and Heather Gosche had a dig.

In the final match of pool play, the Eagles fell to Scott City 17-25 and 20-25.  Shy had nine assists and an ace.  Payne slammed eight kills, an ace and a dig.  McVay had a kill and two digs.  Gosche added an ace and a dig.
