Homecoming night action resulted in a split. The junior varsity fell to what was basically the Bell City varsity team in two quarters of action while the Varsity won easily.
Varsity Action: The Oran Eagles took care of business on Homecoming 2015 as they defeated their district rival 60-37 tonight.
The Eagles jumped out to a 20-12 first quarter lead and then put the game on "ice, ice, baby" by going on a 13-0 run over the first three minutes of the second period to take a 33-12 lead. Oran led 39-22 at the half. The margin expanded to 52-33 heading into the fourth.
The Eagles, now 17-6, were led by Jacob Priggel with 22 points and five rebounds. Thomas Trankler had 13 points and eight assists. Eric Westrich also had five boards.
Oran as a team shot a very good 60% from inside the arc and 57% overall.
Junior Varsity Action: In the evening's first game the jv Eagles fell behind 10-2 after the first period. They were down by double digits in the second before making a late run. Bell City, however, went 8-8 from the free throw line and held on for the 24-16 victory.
Layne Johnson had 9 to pace Oran who's record stands at 9-7.
Upcoming Action: The Eagles close out their regular season with three tough games heading into district tournament action. On Tuesday Oran will travel to Bloomfield to take on a very good Wildcat team.
Good news for the Eagles, it appears that Hunter Schlosser should be able to return to action next week.
