Eagles Win Easily in Homecoming Game

Homecoming night action resulted in a split.  The junior varsity fell to what was basically the Bell City varsity team in two quarters of action while the Varsity won easily.

Varsity Action:  The Oran Eagles took care of business on Homecoming 2015 as they defeated their district rival 60-37 tonight.

The Eagles jumped out to a 20-12 first quarter lead and then put the game on "ice, ice, baby" by going on a 13-0 run over the first three minutes of the second period to take a 33-12 lead.  Oran led 39-22 at the half.  The margin expanded to 52-33 heading into the fourth.

The Eagles, now 17-6, were led by Jacob Priggel with 22 points and five rebounds.  Thomas Trankler had 13 points and eight assists.  Eric Westrich also had five boards.

Oran as a team shot a very good 60% from inside the arc and 57% overall.

Junior Varsity Action:  In the evening's first game the jv Eagles fell behind 10-2 after the first period.  They were down by double digits in the second before making a late run.  Bell City, however, went 8-8 from the free throw line and held on for the 24-16 victory.

Layne Johnson had 9 to pace Oran who's record stands at 9-7.

Upcoming Action:  The Eagles close out their regular season with three tough games heading into district tournament action.  On Tuesday Oran will travel to Bloomfield to take on a very good Wildcat team.

Good news for the Eagles, it appears that Hunter Schlosser should be able to return to action next week.
