Lady Eagles: Back - to - Back District Champs!

Lady Eagles and their (2nd straight) district championship plaque!
If you are in to close basketball games with lots of "who will win?" drama the Class 1 District 2 championship game last night at Bell City was NOT the place for you.  For most, if not all, Oran fans though, that was not a problem.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a  9-2  lead with 4:32 left in the first quarter before St. Paul Lutheran of Farmington called a time out. It was 14-2 when the Giants took their second time out with 2:59 remaining.  It was 18-6 after the opening period.

Oran led by 20 at half time 31-11

In the third quarter St. Paul was down by 30 with 5:27 left, 41-11.

Going into the final period the Eagles were cruising 50-15.

After a mercy rule clock in the fourth the Oran Lady Eagles claimed their second straight district title, third overall, by a final score 60-19.

Allie Cummins led Oran with 16 points, eight assists and seven steals.  Ashlyn McIntosh had 14 points and nine rebounds.  Tatum May added 12 for Oran who now has a record of 14-10.

The Lady Eagles will play Naylor next Tuesday evening at 7:45 in the sectional round of the state playoffs.  That game will be held at Bloomfield.
