7th grade clips Chaffee

The second seed Oran 7th grade Eagles defeated the three seed Chaffee Red Devils tonight by a final score of 27-21 to advance to tomorrow night's championship game at 6 pm against the winner of Delta and East Prairie contest.

It looked like the game would be a rout early as Oran led 11-1 after the first six minutes.  Chaffee cut the deficit in half by intermission. The score was 15-10.  After the third quarter the Eagle lead was down to 4, 20-16.  Oran outscored the Devils in the final frame 7-5 to pick up the 6 point victory.

Ty Johnson led the Eagles with 13 points, including 6 in the fourth quarter. Drew Smith added 6, while Kaden Hargrove tallied 4 on a trey and a free throw.  Kaleb Gosche and Dane Shanes each scored a bucket.

Oran was 4 of 11 from the line for 36%.

After the game, Coach Joe Shoemaker said, "The 7th grade faced a box and one defense for the first time and did a decent job of adjusting to it as the game went on."

The Eagles improved their record to 13-3.

Earlier this season, Oran defeated East Prairie 43-35 but lost to Delta 50-40.
