8th grade defeats Rams

The Oran 8th grade boys basketball team, seeded first in the Scott-Miss tournament will get an opportunity to prove themselves worthy of that honor tomorrow night when they play in the championship game at 7:15, after defeating the Scott City Rams tonight 44-28.

The Eagles led the Rams by only four, 12-8 after one.  They expanded that lead to 16 at the intermission, 31-15.  Oran iced the game in the third leading 44-19 heading into the final quarter. The Eagles coasted to the 16 point victory.

Todd Priggel was one of three in double-digits, leading the way with 17.  Landon Stanberry had 15, including a three-pointer.  Tyson Goodale added 11.  Gabe Fox had one.

Oran was only 5 of 13 from the line for 38%.

Coach Shoemaker said, "The 8th grade started out missing a lot of easy shots but continued to guard and rebound and eventually they started hitting those shots and put the game away."

The 8th grade improved their record to 14-1.

They will face either Delta to #2 seed, whom they defeated earlier this year, 49-43 or East Prairie the three seed.  They won that game by a score of 66-25.
