Lady Eagles roll Rams

It didn't take long for the Oran High School girls basketball team to put last night's opening round game of the 2015 Red Devil Invitational in Chaffee, against the seventh seeded Scott City Rams, out of reach.  Oran, the number two seed, took an insurmountable 26-2 first quarter lead, on their way to an 83-14 romp.

The Eagles expanded the margin to 41 points at 48-7 by the intermission and it 74-12 heading into the final period.

After the game, Coach Ethan Evans said, "I thought we got after it really hard from the get go. We pushed the tempo and got in the passing lanes. That's something we've been preaching in practice is to get up in the passing lanes in the half court set. Hopefully we can bring that same kind of intensity in our semi-final matchup."

Ten Oran players reached the scoring column, four reached double-digits, led by Leah Cauble's 21 points.  Ashlyn McIntosh had 12, Jessie Long 11 and Brianna Stause 10.

Tatum May added 8, Hannah Scherer 7, Madison Ramsey 5, including the team's only three-pointer.
Katelyn Streeter chipped in 4, Claire Ramsey 3 and Shiloh Kirn 2.

The Eagles were 6-10 from the line for 60%.  They hit 37-72 from inside the arc for 51.4 % but were only 1-6 from beyond for 16.7%

Cauble had a double-double as she also dished out 10 assists.  McIntosh grabbed eight rebounds including seven on the offensive end and Long nabbed seven steals.

Oran is now 3-0 and will take on the winner of Wednesday's Kelly vs Delta matchup on Thursday at 7:30.
