The Oran High School girls were looking to make a statement after their first loss of the season earlier this week. The Eagles didn't really come out on fire but they ended up leaving the Delta Bobcats in their smoke, winning 75-30.
The illness issue seems to be lingering as Oran only led 15-8 after one-quarter. The Eagles turned it on during the second period as they outscored their hosts 27-6 to take a 42-14 lead into the intermission.
Coach Ethan Evans said, "We talked before the game about controlling the pace and turning up the pressure. In the first quarter, we didn't execute that strategy very well. After that we did a good job of getting some steals off the press, pushing the ball down the floor and getting some easy baskets."
Oran continued their dominance in the second half by adding 17 to the margin 33-16, to pick up the 45 point win.
Four Eagles reached double-digits in scoring.
Leah Cauble topped all with 25. She was 5-6 from the line and dished out 3 assists. Kaylee Payne hit for 16. She was 4-5 from the line and handed out 6 assists. Jessie Long scored 11 had 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Claire Ramsey added 10, she hit 2 treys and snatched a team-high 8 boards, 7 on the offensive end, and 5 steals.
Brianna Stause hit 3 threes for her 9 points. Katelyn Streeter and Paige Bradley both scored 2 points off the bench. Bradley hit both of her free throw attempts.
Oran hit 60.5% from inside the arc (23-38) and 20.8% from beyond (5-24). At the free throw line they hit 14-20 for 70%.
They are now 15-1 on the year overall and 2-0 in conference play.
There was no jv contest.
Oran will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Chaffee to take on the conference and district foe Lady Devils at 6 pm.
