Eagles rout Hornets

The Oran High School baseball team exploded for 12 first inning runs as they sent 17 to the plate and cruised to a 13-0 victory over the Advance Hornets this afternoon.

Layne Johnson and Todd Priggel combined to throw a no-hitter.

The big blow in the first inning was Clay Sauceda's grand slam home run to straight away center field during his second at-bat of the frame.

The game settled down after that first inning.

Johnson went the first 3 1/3 innings, he struck out 8 and walked 3.  Priggel went the final inning and a third.  He struck out 2 and walked 1.

Johnson was 2 for 3 at the plate scored twice and drove in 1.  Priggel also had 2 hits, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Austin Eftink had a pair of hits and a RBI, while Drew Mitchem drove in 2 with a double.

Johnson improved to 3-1 while the Eagles are now 7-2.

The Eagles will be back in action on Monday for a doubleheader at Charleston.  Game 1 is scheduled for 4:15 against Chaffee, with game 2 at 6:30 against the hosts.  Both games are conference contests.
