Lady Eagles soar over NMCC

Jessie Long drove in 4 and Sam Welter scattered 4 hits and allowed only 1 unearned run as the Oran High School softball team defeated the visiting New Madrid County Central Eagles 10-1 on Tuesday.

Oran scored 4 in the first, 4 more in the 5th and 2 in the 6th enroute to the 14th win of the year in 14 attempts.

Welter is now 8-0.  She struck out 4 and walked none.

Coach Jim Eftink said, "Sam had a steady game on the mound against a very good hitting team. Her changeup was working and the defense behind her was exceptional. She threw strikes and let her defense work their magic."

Long was 2-3 with a double and the 4 ribbies.

Eftink commented, "Jessie drove in four runs. She's an RBI machine. She seems to come up with the big hit when we need it. She's a classic clutch hitter."
