Fall Baseball Preview

School starts on Thursday and baseball will hit the field on Friday.

This year's squad is coming off a 14-5 spring season that ended with their third straight district championship runner-up finish to the eventual state champs, the Bell City Cubs, and a 7-1 record during the fall.

Head Coach, Joe Bickings said he was "very excited to see how we are going to be this year.  We return all but one starter from last year and add 8 new and exciting freshman to the Fall squad.  Our expectations in the fall are to get as many reps as we can in live game situations as possible to get prepared for the Spring season.  I really like our depth in pitching and the way we are swinging the bat in practices.  This should be a really good Fall season for us."

In addition to eight freshmen, the team has four sophomores, three juniors and six seniors for a total of 21 players on the roster.

The 2017 fall campaign will begin on Friday when the Eagles will travel to East Carter County in Ellsinore to take on Ellington at 6 pm.  The Whippets finished second in Class 2 District 2 last year with a 14-10 record.  They were 11-6 the previous fall.

Oran will play two games on Saturday.  The first game will be at 11 am against either the hosts East Carter or West County.  If the Eagles win that game they will play again at 5 pm.  If they lose they play at 3 pm.
