Volleyball loses at Oak Ridge

The Oran High School volleyball team lost its matches last night at Oak Ridge.  The Eagles' junior varsity fell 17-25 and 18-25.  The varsity came up short 24-26 and 20-25.  Both squads are now 0-2.

Kaylee Payne had 7 kills.  Jessie Long had 6 kills and an ace. Kenzie Graviett ha a kill and an assist.  Cassie Cochran ended up dishing out 14 assists.

Coach Amy Wibbenmeyer said, "Compared to the first game I think we came out ready to play.  We were hustling to the ball and had long rallies.  We had a lot of good plays but we have to eliminate our mistakes as that is what got us in this game.  We had some over passes and we simply can't have them.  We also had missed serves during critical times and we have to find a way to overcome this."

On the jayvee side, Kennedi McVay and Sam Welter each had 5 assists.  McVay added a kill while Welter served an ace.  Savannah Below had 5 kills.  Heather Gosche, Paige Bradley and Megan Henson each ha a kill.  Henson also an ace.

The Eagles will be back in action this evening when they travel to Advance for a 6 pm contest.
