There was only one game last night at Meadow Heights and the Oran Junior High School girls made the most of it by picking up a 31-12 victory and improving their record to 3-0.
The Eagles did not come out on fire. They led just 6-3 after one. But they tossed a second-quarter shutout to take a 19-3 lead into the halftime locker room. Oran outscored the Panthers 12-9 in the second half.
Coach Ethan Evans said, "We got off to a slow start but played much better in the 2nd quarter. We also shot free throws well."
All 15 Eagles in the book saw action and six scored. The Eagles were led by Grace Davis's 14 points. She was 2-2 from the line.
Hope Woodfin had eight. She hit a trey and was 3-4 on free throws. Maddie Stickel added four points, while Rylee Boshell and Emma Priggel had two points apiece. Priggel made both of her free throw attempts. Liza Dannenmueller also made a free throw.
Oran was 8 for 10 on the night from the free throw line.
The girls will travel to conference-foe Charleston tonight for a 6 pm tip.
