Coach Wibbenmeyer said, "We won the second set and it looked promising for us, we just couldn't pull it off in the third set. Sikeston was playing well and working our weaknesses. We had missed serves which cost us some points and seemed to be a little off on our teamwork, but we are going to try to utilize the next few days of practice and be ready for 4 games next week. We are happy to have Kenzie Graviett back and are slowly working her back in the rotation after being out for some time with an ankle injury. "
Kaylee Payne accounted for nine kills, four digs, four aces and two blocks. Kennedi McVay saw action at the varsity level. She had seven assists, two digs and an ace. Jessie Long had four kills and four blocks. Graviett made her return felt with three kills, two digs and an assist. Cassie Cochran had three assists.
Kaitlyn Streeter had three aces, three digs and two kills. Ali Hornback had a kill, a block, a dig and an assist. Kamryn Graviett had an assist.
The varsity is now 7-8-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The jayvee team picked up the win in straight sets.
Coach Wibbenmeyer said, "The JV did well and pulled together for a win."
Sam Welter had five aces, an assist and a dig. Kennedi McVay had four aces, four assists and a block. Savannah Below had a pair of aces to go along with five kills. Paige Bradley had three serving aces and a dig. Megan Henson served two aces and also had a kill and a block. Heather Gosche had a block and an ace.
The junior varsity improved to 4-5 in all games and 2-2 in league play.
The squads will be back in action on Monday when they host a talented Bloomfield team at 6 pm.
