Eagles hammer Hawks

The Oran Junior High School girls basketball teams picked up a pair of wins last night on the road at Kelly High School last night to help Coach Ethan Evans celebrate his 38th birthday.

The seventh grade jumped out to a 24-2 halftime lead and cruised to a 47-8 victory.

Coach Evans said, "This was probably the best game the seventh-grade has played all year. We had balanced scoring and played very good defense."

Grace Davis topped the scorers with 13.  Liza Dannenmueller had 12 and Addie Nichols scored 10.

Bralynn Morgan had eight, Maddie Stickel added four.

They hit 7 of 11 free throw attempts for 64%.  They improved their record 5-0 in Scott-Miss play and 6-0 overall.

During the eighth-grade game, the Eagles led only 10-8 after the first quarter but outscored the conference opponent 48-17 the rest of the way to pick up a 58-25 win.

Coach Evan told the blog, "We got off to a slow start once again but played a very good 2nd and 3rd quarters to get the victory."

Davis poured in 26.  Rylee Boshell hit for 14, Hannah Boshell scored 10.

Hope Woodfin and Emma Priggel both scored three while Hallie Nichols added two.

The older team hit 67% of their charity attempts (8-12).

They are now 6-0 and 10-0.

The Eagles will be back in action this evening at 6 pm at Oak Ridge.
