Jayvee boys settle for 2nd

The fourth-seeded Oran junior varsity boys basketball team lost in last night's Advance JV tournament championship game to the 2nd seeded Saxony Lutheran Crusaders, 41-34.

Oran lead 10-9 after one period of play, but it was the middle two quarters that cost the Eagles, as they were outscored 20-11 in the seven point defeat.

Coach Joe Shoemaker said, "We always talk about controlling what you can; your attitude and effort, and I was proud of them for doing that.  Saxony was a very tough opponent with lots of height and we were able to out rebound them because of effort.  In the end we came up just a little short.  We missed too many free throws and that will cost you in close games.  Now the challenge is to continue to improve every day in practice and get ready for the next game."

Ty Johnson was the top point-producer for the Eagles, with 13.  He hit two treys and was four of four from the line.

Langdon Scheeter scored nine, he nailed one from beyond the arc.  Kaiden Massey put in six.  Tristin Schlosser hit one from long-range to account for his three points.  Cooper Priggel added two and Myles Trankler hit a free throw to round out the scoring.

Oran was 7 of 14 from the charity stripe for 50%.

They are now 4-2.

They will be back in action next Tuesday, along with the varsity, at Delta for a conference match up that will tip at 6 pm.
