The fourth-seeded Oran High School junior varsity boys basketball team pulled off a major upset last night by defeating the top-seeded Cape Central Tigers 47-39 in a semifinal round contest at the Advance Junior Varsity tournament.
Langdon Scheeter led the Eagles with 17 points, including one trey. He also hit 6 of 8 free throw attempts. Cooper Priggel and Tristin Schlosser had 10 apiece. Priggel connected on one from beyond the arc.
Ty Johnson added five. Kaiden Massey and Cameron Westrich both hit a field goal. Dane Shands hit a free throw to round out the scoring.
They hit 9 of 18 from the line for 50%.
Oran was on top 25-15 at the halftime break. They extended the margin to 38-22 heading into the fourth. Cape cut the 16 point difference in half but the Eagles held on to win.
The junior varsity improved to 3-1 and will face No. 2 seed Saxony Lutheran on Thursday at 7:45 pm in the championship game.
