Coach Joe Shoemaker told the blog about the junior varsity, "We played 5 minute quarters and ran the clock the entire second half (because of the impending weather)."

"I thought the jv played with a lot of energy and passed the ball the best they have all year. They ran the floor without the ball and rewarded each other with sharing the ball leading to some easy shots" he added.

The Eagles led 45-11 at the break and won by 29.

Tyson Goodale scored 14 in two-quarters of action.  Langdon Scheeter finished with 13.  He hit two from beyond the arc.

Myles Trankler had eight points.  Ty Johnson had six, including four for four from the line.   Cooper Priggel had a trey included in his five points.  Dane Shands and Tristen Schlosser hit a field goal each, while Cameron Westrich made of his free shots.

They were 7 of 10 at the stripe for 70%.

In the nightcap, the varsity led 17-3 after one and expanded that margin in every quarter, eventually picking up the 38 point road victory.

Coach Shoemaker said, "I thought the varsity played good defense for most of the game. We didn’t shoot the ball very well as a team and didn’t let that change our defensive efforts. I think the second quarter we were a little fatigued but if we continue to practice and play with that defensive team effort that will take care of itself. I am looking forward to seeing us continue that defensive intensity in our practices because I know our shooting will be better on most nights."

Jacob Shoemaker was the top scorer with 19.  Layne Johnson finished with 16.  He hit all four of his free throw attempts.

Drew Reischman had eight, Todd Priggel had seven.  Tyson Goodale totaled six.  Cole Priggel and Bradley Brooks each ended up with five.  Denver Elfrink rounded out the scoring with two.

At the line, the team was 8 of 12 for 67%.  They hit no shots from beyond the arc.

The varsity will be back in action on Tuesday in the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament being held at Chaffee.  Game time is 4 pm and they will face the Scott City Rams.

The junior varsity will play on Thursday at 4 pm against the winner of Delta and Scott City, which will be played on Wednesday.

Both squads got the number 1 seeds in their respective brackets.
