What's happenin' (4/30-5/5)

Spring seasons are nearing their ends.  Softball and track will begin the postseason this week.  Baseball is still a couple weeks away.

On Monday, the 14-4 Lady Eagles softball team will face Park Hills Central (17-3) in the district tournament at 2:30 at Oran. There is an MSHSAA mandated $5 admission charge.  Oran is the 3 seed while Park Hills is seeded 2nd.  The Eagles have lost to the Trojans twice this year.

The Lady Eagles have defeated the number one seeds in District 1 (Portageville), District 2 (Kennett), District 3 (Malden) and District 5 (Clearwater).  But Oran could only manage the three seed in their loaded District 4.

Should the Eagles pull off the upset they would advance to the championship game on Tuesday at 4 pm.

Also on Monday, track and field will have its conference meet at Chaffee beginning at 4 pm.

Baseball (9-7), will take on the 7-9 Kelly Hawks in a conference matchup in a game that will be played at Capaha Park in Cape Girardeau.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:30.  As of now, a junior varsity game is scheduled to follow.

Wednesday will have baseball traveling to Sikeston to take on the 10-9-1 Bulldogs.  It will start at 4:30.

Track and field will compete in their district meet at New Haven High School.  Typically it begins at 10:30 am.
